Welcome to the Rancho Mirage Public Library…

With appropriate fanfare and fun we begin 2016 with twin anniversaries for

your

Library:

On Friday, January 8, 2016 we celebrate:

The twentieth anniversary of the Rancho Mirage Public Library

and

The tenth anniversary of the present Library building

Each month, throughout 2016, we will have a special program celebrating the Library’s

anniversaries. This year also gives us an opportunity to thank a visionary City Council

that established a Library for Rancho Mirage. Succeeding Councils have been strong in

their support for the Rancho Mirage Public Library and its contributions to the intellectual

and cultural life of our beautiful city. The present City Council, also serving as the

Library Board, has been devoted to funding upgrades at the Library – paint, carpeting,

shelving changes, new audio technology for the hearing impaired, new display units for

special collections, and later this year, an observatory!

We have a full calendar of concerts, lectures, film screenings, and more this quarter.

You will discover new presenters and the return of lecturers who have developed a

great following.

I am pleased to report that after two decades of service to readers, researchers, and

Valley residents of all ages, the Rancho Mirage Public Library begins its twenty first

year in a very good place, still very much the beautiful, welcoming “house of ideas” that

keeps improving.
