Programs & Events

Observatory Tours

Offered Tuesday - Saturday at 9:00am & 3:00pm.

Stargazing Parties

Stargazing Parties take place at various times throughout the month. Stargazing Parties are limited to 40 patrons. Pre-registration is required. Please sign up for our eNewsletter to receive updates and registration information about the Stargazing Parties. Each stargazing party is slightly different depending on what opportunities present themselves in the night sky, but generally the program consists of an introduction to the Observatory and it’s capabilities, a “tour of the night’s sky” on the Observatory deck with City Astronomer Eric McLaughlin or a trained docent, the opportunity to look at several objects in space through telescopes on the deck, and the opportunity to view one or more objects through the large telescope in the Observatory dome. Guests are provided information throughout the experience, and also have a chance to ask questions. For additional information, please call 760-341-7323.

Observatory Programs

Observatory Programs are regularly held in the Library's Community Room. Our Calendar of Events and our Program Guides contain these events and many others.
