Volunteer Job Descriptions - Bookstore Inventory Associate

Title: Bookstore Inventory Associate

Supervisor: Bookstore Manager

Job Description: Bookstore inventory associates shall provide services to maintain the inventory of the store, including but not limited to

  • Receiving books and other items from donors,
  • Recording, sorting, and evaluating such items,
  • Preparing items for sale or other disposition, and
  • Placing inventory in store for sale.

Time Commitment: At least 2 hours per week for 7 months.

Qualifications: The qualities desired of the volunteer include:

  • Ability to carry books and to stock shelves.
  • Ability to recognize and arrange books by type and also by value.
  • May also include the ability to identify and appraise books of unusual value, and to market items on the Internet and at other book sales.

Training Time: One hour, and continuing in the store.

Evaluation: Continuing review.
