Presents Music from the Pines
Wednesday, April 9, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
The Music Department of the Idyllwild
Arts Academy presents an evening of
listeningpleasurewith their performance
of Music from the Pines. This concert
features highlights of programs in
classical, jazz, and musical theater
presented on campus during the spring
semester. Some of the brightest young
students from throughout Europe, Asia,
Australia, and North and South America
attend Idyllwild Arts Academy and will
perform in this program.

Jazz guitarist
Peter Sprague
is a
man of many talents. Besides his
exceptional guitar playing, he is also
a composer, arranger, music producer,
and recording engineer. He began
his recording career at age 20, cutting
his own albums for vaunted jazz label
Concord Jazz. He has toured with
everyone from pianists Chick Corea
and Sergio Mendes to flutist Hubert
Laws and singer Dianne Reeves.
Ken Dahleen and His Big Band Staff

Renowned as one of today’s leading
big bands,
Ken Dahleen’s Big Band
Staff
is composed of some of the
finest musicians and vocalists from all
over Southern California. Join us for a
big band jazz concert that will feature
many of the members improvising
to popular tunes. You will enjoy the
music from arrangers of yesterday and
today—Stan Kenton, Woody Herman,
Les Brown, and others.

Saturday, April 19, 4 – 5 p.m.
Jim Borax
and California Cabaret
presents multi-faceted entertainment,
including a swingin’ sing-along of
unforgettable standards and a variety
of exciting performances by professional
singers and dancers. These talented
performers—including singer Troy
Clarke and gifted McCallum Theatre
soloist Melissa Batalles—will bring
you an unforgettable afternoon of
Broadway sing-along in the styles of
Frank Sinatra, Cole Porter, Gershwin,
and Irving Berlin.
